He enthusiastically visits literary and political salons, intensively engages in literature, writes tragedies, vaudevilles and comic operas.

His first novel “Five weeks in a balloon” with open arms is accepted in a publishing house, where they conclude an agreement on a series of books. And daily work begins - from dawn to dawn - subordinate to the ideal schedule, which largely contributed to the exceptional productivity of writing. From five in the morning to noon, Jules Bern also wrote proofreading rules. He devoted the afternoon hours to reading and viewing sources for the next novel, and the evening time - to rest and conversations with friends.

Only closest friends knew how huge the tension of physical and spiritual forces cost him every work that captured readers with novelty, wit, and ease of style. Jules Verne died on March 24, when he was 77 years old, from a diabetic crisis. He is buried near his home in Amiens.
