Biography Joel Bolomboy
Joel Bolomoboy was born in the family of a native of the Congo and Russian girl Tatyana. The young family had to go from place to place very often, and in the first years of life the child spent a lot of time with his grandmother, mother of Tatyana. He hardly remembers how the family decided to move to America - Joel was four years old. According to his mother, they moved so that the child was more comfortable.
True, not everything was so simple. At school, he understood almost nothing in English. There was simply no one to deal with him in the family-dad spoke French, mom in Russian. Bolomoboy himself also spoke Russian. For several months, Joel and Tatyana went to English lessons together. The boy was embarrassed and did not want to engage, but only a few months passed - and he could not be recognized.
He made a bunch of friends and already taught his mother to speak English. Photo: From the personal archive of Joel Bolomboy, according to Tatyana, in front of basketball the guy tried a lot: he was given to football, tennis, and athletics. He even played in the orchestra! But he did not like anything. His mother recalls: “Like all children, he loved to play video settings, chase a bicycle, kick the ball and swim in the pool.
He had everything, and he never asked for anything. Even now, ask him what he wants for his birthday or for the New Year. He will answer you that nothing needs. Once I asked the kitten, and we gave him. ” He was an excellent assistant for his mother, he cleaned and washed the dishes with her. Tatyana says that he is still quiet and calm - he says almost nothing and only listens.
Mom always told Joel that he should become a doctor. Best of all by a surgeon. Tatyana immediately after moving to the United States realized that the medical profession in the country is quoted, and for the unborn child this is the most promising area. She tried to lay the same thoughts in the head of her son, but he replied that she did not want to cut people. At the same time, Joel himself did not say who he wanted to be, and until a certain time, the family believed that the guy’s future was predetermined.

And he grabbed on the fly: he had an excellent memory and all the predispositions to any scientific profession. At the same time, the father supported any hobbies of his son and did not “press” about the choice of profession.
Bolomboy himself now denies that he ever treated the future in medicine seriously: “I never wanted to become a doctor. Mom wanted this for me and even went to school of nurses. But every time she told me about the profession of a doctor, I constantly answered that I did not want to. But actually, to be honest, I did not know at all who I want to become. I constantly played video games with a child, went in for sports, rode on a skateboard, listened to music, hanged out with friends.
” When asked whether there was a chance that Boloma would become a doctor, he replies that yes, of course he was, especially taking into account a pretty good education.
But in the seventh grade, Joel tried to play basketball. He began to work out well, and after a few years local clubs began to be invited. Mom still nourished the hope that her son would be a doctor - she constantly said how it is promising and noble to help people. But Bolomboy could no longer convince, he firmly intended to become a basketball player. From this moment, events began to happen very quickly: Joel received several proposals from institutes at once, among which he chose Weber State, and from that moment he had only one path.
And with medicine, he had nothing to do.
